Negotiations ongoing for Celtic’s ‘number one’ goalkeeping target Peter Vindahl Jensen

Celtic supporters want the club to have a productive and exciting summer transfer window but as of yet there has been no breakthrough on any imminent deal.

The goalkeeping position is the top priority. Going into the season without signing a new number one is far from ideal. Arguably, we need the man we want in the door for the full pre-season preparation period.

Building a relationship between a goalkeeper and his defence takes time and effort. Everyone needs to be up to speed by the time the competitive action gets underway at the start of August.

We know deals are being worked on behind the scenes. John Kennedy made that clear in a media interview at Lennoxtown last week.

And, despite the lack of updates, we also know that discussions between Sparta Prague and Celtic are ongoing regarding goalkeeper Peter Vindahl Jensen.

Celtic still pursuing Danish goalkeeper

Football Scotland reports that Jensen remains Celtic’s ‘number one target’ for the position and that negotiations continue on a potential deal.

It was previously reported that the Bhoys would be expected to pay a fee in excess of £4m to land their man.

Sparta Prague only recently signed the Dane and he’s coming off an impressive season that, like Celtic, helped them lift a league and cup double.

In an ideal world, we’d hear of significant progress on the goalkeeping front over the next week. We know the transfer market can be tricky but the Bhoys have the resources to land Brendan Rodgers’ top choice with little fuss.

Nobody wants this summer transfer window to drag onto into saga territory like 2023.
