Celtic have not yet completed the signing of Ben Davies on a pre-contract basis, Neil Lennon has confirmed to reporters at his press briefing today.
Yesterday there were conflicting reports from various media outlets about the status of Celtic’s interest in Davies.
Sky Sports had reported a pre-contract agreement had been completed, while The Daily Record suggested Bournemouth could still hijack the deal.
Lennon has now confirmed he is not yet Celtic’s man.
The Hoops boss is also working on bringing in two signings following an injury to Christopher Jullien and Jeremie Frimpong’s departure, The Scottish Sun reports.
I would assume Davies makes up half of that quest.
If we do sign him on a pre-contract basis, we could make a push to sign him ahead of the summer and do a deal with Preston North End.
Although our season is effectively over, the signing of Davies helps us plan for the future.
We also need a competent replacement for Frimpong as shifting our best defender, Kristoffer Ajer, out of his natural position isn’t ideal.

This is a period of change and transition at Celtic, but we must maintain standards on the pitch between now and May.
Further regression in results and performances will only make the new CEO’s job harder when he takes over this summer.
In other news, Dominic McKay has sent his first message to supporters after today’s Celtic announcement.
