Neil Lennon has commented on the prospect of Celtic adding to their squad in the January transfer window. The Hoops boss was guarded in the words he used though, as he seemingly didn’t want to give much away.
“Hopefully we will bring in reinforcements in January to add to what we already have” were his brief comments, as reported by the Daily Record.
Those are sensible comments from Lennon. They make more sense than guaranteeing that the Hoops will sign a player in January.
Hoops seem keen on adding a striker
However, the Hoops do seem to be looking for players, in one area in particular – striker.
If there is to be an addition to the squad in January, then it seems that striker is the most likely position. Celtic do have a lot of players in the squad though.
That means that more players could be leaving the club in January, then arrive. That won’t be a problem for the Hoops in all honesty. The team is established enough as it is that it could cope with some fringe players departing.
In Brendan Rodgers’ time as Hoops boss the January transfer window wasn’t always the most successful. Scott Bain is probably the one real success story from three transfer windows.
Manager has made some excellent January signings
Hopefully Neil Lennon will be able to better that record. He did sign Kris Commons, Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths in previous January windows in his first spell as manager. All of whom have gone on to have highly successful careers with the club.
That should give Celtic fans confidence that any signings Lennon makes will contribute to the team. It remains to be seen just how many additions will be made to the squad, but we will find out soon enough.
