Celtic manager Neil Lennon is giving no thought to selling Odsonne Edouard before the transfer window shuts next month, The Glasgow Times reports.
Rumours have resurfaced this week about an Edouard exit from the Scottish champions.
The most prominent reports came via the Friday edition of The Transfer Window Podcast where journalist Ian McGarry reported that multiple bids had already gone in from Arsenal for the 22-year-old’s services.
However, asked by reporters this weekend about his thoughts on Edouard leaving, Lennon was in no mood to entertain it.
As quoted by The Glasgow Times, he said: “That is just the nature of the window and it isn’t at the forefront of my thinking at the minute.
“We have lots of games and we want to keep all the players here and the club will do everything in their power to make sure that happens.
“I am not aware of any of that [rumours]. Honestly, I am not. It is just all speculation. We want to keep Odsonne. We know what a talent he is and we know how important the season is for the club and the supporters and Odsonne is aware of that as well.”
This has been a consistent message from Lennon throughout the summer and you have to hope that the club are not seriously considering selling our best player when we are playing for history.
Obviously formal bids will make that more difficult, especially as we have missed out on the Champions League, but keeping Edouard has to be seen as a huge priority.
There are other realities to consider outside of Celtic’s control, such as the happiness of the player and a potential desire to leave.
To date though there hasn’t been an indication he wants away, far from it, he’s looks as good as ever.
I’m hopeful that he’ll still be at the club this time next month.
