Neil Lennon 'very confident' of keeping Odsonne Edouard and other big Celtic stars

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has offered the strongest indication yet that the Scottish champions won’t be selling star players before Monday’s transfer deadline, The Daily Record reports.

Odsonne Edouard has been consistently linked with moves away by the media, while there have been plenty of rumours surrounding Olivier Ntcham and Kristoffer Ajer too.

However, speaking after last night’s win against Sarajevo, Lennon was bullish about the club’s position.

Asked directly about goalscorer Edouard, the manager told The Daily Record: “I’m very confident he’ll still be here after Monday night. In fact, I think I’m very confident they will all still be here.

“We’re very strong on it, we don’t want to sell any of our players — and we don’t need to now. Maybe if we hadn’t qualified it would’ve been something the board would’ve had to look at.

“But, that’s not an issue for us now.”

It’s a huge sign that this squad is going to emerge from the transfer window unscathed.

Last night’s win in Bosnia may have been bigger than anyone imagined. Lennon has basically admitted exits would be on the cards had the team failed to win.

Now it appears we have the financial clout to reject the advances of cash-rich sides, retaining a quality squad for our Europa League campaign and ten-in-a-row push.

I’ve been fearing an Edouard exit all summer long; I can’t lie.

However, for the first time, I am actually confident that the club will do right by supporters and hold on to him for another season.

We’re on the verge of one of our best transfer window, ever.

The club just needs to navigate the next few days, notch up another league win and we’ll be entering the pre-derby international break with massive confidence.

In other news, supporters are feeling confident after today’s Europa League draw.
