The transfer speculation around Celtic star Matt O’Riley is as fierce as ever this weekend as multiple teams jostle for his signature.

O’Riley’s stellar 2023/24 campaign in which he scored 19 goals and assisted 18 more has caught the attention of clubs all over Europe.

Celtic have already fielded multiple bids for the midfielder during the current transfer window and continue to knock them back.

The Danish international has trained excellently and performed well in matches regardless and is expected to feature in Sunday’s match away to Hibernian.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has raised no concerns about his mentality through all the noise.

Matt O’Riley Celtic exit speculation heats up again

Sky Sports reported on Saturday night that the Scottish champions have rejected Atlanta’s latest offer of £20m, with the Italian side previously tabling three bids below that value.

Further to that, The Mail on Sunday [11/08 print edition, page 86] reports that Bournemouth – fresh from selling Dominic Solanke to Spurs for a massive £65m – are considering tabling some of their new riches to land O’Riley.

With Brighton in the background valuing the Celtic star highly, too, there’s a clear direction of travel towards an O’Riley exit this summer.

Cetlic heading for record transfer fee

All of the interest is undoubtedly driving up Celtic’s potential earnings from his sale, hopefully allowing them to invest in a quality replacement that maintains the strength of Rodgers’ squad.

A fee north of £25m is no longer a wish, it’s a minimum requirement on any O’Riley sale now. Letting him leave for less than that would be a major error on the club’s part.

In fact, many fans are now hoping it goes beyond £30m, sailing past the club-record sales of Kieran Tierney and Jota. With so much interest, that’s realistic. The club shouldn’t allow themselves to be short-changed here.
