No serious offers for Celtic duo despite media frenzy

Ange Postecoglou has shut down the recent rumours and reports on Celtic duo Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis, insisting the club have received no serious offers for any of their players.

Juranovic in particular has been the subject of headlines over the last few days with many outlets reporting that Celtic have received a ‘concrete bid’ from Italy for his services.

However, when asked about any transfer offers, Postecoglou was clear with his comments.

As quoted by The Scotsman, he said: “At this point, we’ve had nothing serious about any of the players within the group.”

Yesterday, the Celtic manager also insisted that Juranovic remains an important member of his squad and has been training well this week.

Both players have a good chance of featuring in some capacity against Kilmarnock at home today, whether from the start or off the bench.

Of course, there’s still a chance they leave before the end of January but I think it’ll become obvious when they are in the final stages of their Celtic careers. In my opinion, nothing credible has yet popped up that’s made me think either are definitely away.

In both cases, the Bhoys are in a strong negotiating position so business will only be done on the club’s terms and no-one else’s.

We have an interesting few weeks ahead before the close of the January window. Will anyone lay down the serious cash needed to tempt Celtic into a sale?

In other news, Celtic can now ramp up the pressure on Rangers.
