The news that Celtic are, as reported by the Scottish Sun interested in signing David Turnbull of Motherwell in January is certainly a prospect that should intrigue the Hoops support.
The player was of course close to joining the Hoops in the summer until a knee injury put paid to that. Now it seems that the deal could finally get down in the summer.
Should Turnbull sign for the Hoops, the prospect of he and Ryan Christie teaming up in the middle of the park is an exciting one.
Both players know how to score goals
Another goalscoring midfielder could be just what Celtic need. At the moment, it seems like Christie is the only player from that area of the park who regularly finds the back of the net.
That is where Turnbull can potentially make the difference. He could be the player who turns defeats into draws and draws into wins.
He may have been especially useful in the recent games against Hibs and Livingston which saw the Hoops drop points for the first time this season.
Having two midfielders in the team who can potentially score almost 20 goals a season can only be a good thing for Celtic.
Duo could also contribute assists
Not only could they provide a goal threat, but the pair could also contribute with plenty of assists to fellow players.
It seems like for the first time in a few seasons there could be a tight title race in Scottish football. Therefore, the Hoops will need to take every advantage they can get. The duo of Christie and Turnbull, should it come to pass, could fire Celtic to nine in a row.
