Celtic striker Vakoun Bayo’s previously imminent move to Ligue 2 outfit Toulouse has hit a delay after the French club was rocked by positive coronavirus tests, The Daily Record reports.

The paper say the move, which had been due to go through on Saturday, has now been ‘put on the back-burner’ after Toulouse manager Patrice Garande and other staff at the club were struck by the virus.

A Toulouse statement said: “Up to now, four cases have been confirmed – the manager, Patrice Garande, his assistant, Jean-Marie Huriez and two players. Furthermore, seven players will be tested again this weekend.

“Training will resume later this week, led by other members of the coaching staff.”

It’s horrible news and hopefully there’s a full recovery for everyone involved.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Bayo had been pictured in Toulouse colours ahead of the weekend, though it was not known whether the would be on a loan or permanent basis.

Bayo has struggled to make an impact at Celtic Park following his move to Glasgow in January 2019.

Dogged by injuries and fitness issues, he’s not had much luck to date, making just two starts for the club against Hearts and Partick Thistle.

Lennon confirmed he was injured again last week but had also suggested an exit could be on the cards when he was fit.

This latest news is another blow but the Ivorian will still be hoping to find regular minutes this season and get his career back on track, either to make a future impact at Celtic or to put himself in the shop window for a move to a bigger league.

In other news, Celtic prospect Conor Hazard has been linked with a permanent exit from the club.
