Celtic are set to benefit from Josip Juranovic’s fine form at the World Cup with three cash-rich English Premier League teams noted admirers of the defender, The Sunday Post has reported today. [11/12 print edition, back page]

It’s said that Juranovic will have his pick of clubs in England following the tournament in Qatar, with his quality display against Brazil a massive factor in helping Croatia through to the semi-finals.

The paper reports that Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United are all long-term admirers of the right-back.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka of Old Trafford is poised for a move away, with Juranovic potentially a replacement as Erik Ten Hag looks to recruit multiple players for each position.

It’s stated that United are ‘ready to firm up their interest with an offer’ in January, with similar situations brewing at Stamford Bridge and St James’ Park.

With Celtic having already recruited a right-back in the event a deal can be agreed for Juranovic, with Alistair Johnston joining the club, it increasingly feels like the Bhoys can bring in serious cash in January.

There’s a long way to go, of course, not least because Celtic are set to sit down with the Croatian following his return to Scotland later this month for renewed contract talks. [Sky Sports]

The Bhoys are in a very strong position, not least because Juranovic’s contract runs until 2026. If the player wants to leave and a club wants to buy him, that’s fine, that’s football. But any suitors will have to pay the appropriate money.

Celtic know his value may be at an all-time high following this World Cup and are unlikely to be pushed around in negotiations.
