Celtic are interested in signing Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny, The Telegraph has reported on Sunday.

Celtic sold Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen last week and have an urgent need for a right-sided defender.

Kenny, 23, has made 48 appearances for Everton to date.

However, just one start has come in the Premier League this season, and an exit from Goodison Park looks increasingly likely.

The former England youth international has also spent a solid spell out on loan at Bundesliga club Schalke, making 34 appearances for them last season.

The Telegraph reports, however, that transfers may not be a priority for Celtic right now given the uncertain situation at the club.

Neil Lennon’s future is in serious doubt and the club is not an attractive place to play football right now.

It’s unclear whether any move for Kenny would be a loan or permanent transfer basis.

On the face of it, this looks like it would be a promising signing. He certainly has a bit more experience than Frimpong and is still young enough to make improvements at Celtic Park.

There’s been a dearth of transfer rumours of late and even those linked with a move to Celtic appear to slip through our fingers.

Kenny is at least one to watch heading into deadline day.

In other news, Neil Lennon still won’t reconsider his Celtic future.
