Celtic are to complete their move for Jota by the end of the week, according to Portuguese outlet Record.

There were concerns last week when the newspaper reported that the deal had stalled with the club still in talks with Jota regarding his contract.

However, any concerns in that regard appear to be over with Record believing a deal is now all but certain to be finalised before the week is over.

We spoke last week about how there was nothing major to worry about regarding the wait for Jota’s signature. However, with Cameron Carter-Vickers having already signed permanently, you could understand why some were getting a touch impatient over the wait for Jota.

With Celtic due to return to pre-season training at the end of the month, Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to get Jota in the door before their Austria training camp.

Jota to Celtic looks like the obvious solution for all parties

Until the official announcement is made, you can bet there will still be a section of the support still concerned and having doubts over whether this will go ahead.

However, the truth is that this was always going to be the natural option for all parties involved. Benfica clearly don’t see Jota as being part of their plans next season whilst Celtic want him to be starring for them.

As for the player himself? He gets the opportunity to experience UEFA Champions League football at Celtic Park and a potential platform to greater things if he continues to impress. After all, look at what Celtic has done for the likes of Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney in the past.

There is no reason Jota can’t follow a similar route to some of previous stars if he comes with the right attitude and commitment to the club. Thankfully, he was infectious during his loan spell last season and we hope that will continue heading into pre-season.

When this does indeed get finalised, it’ll be a huge weight off of the supporters’ shoulders. No longer will they be fearing the worst here and that’s something at least.

All eyes then on that official announcement, which at this stage we would hope to be at some stage this week.
