Celtic are keen on making a move for Blackburn Rovers striker Tyrhys Dolan, according to TalkSPORT reporter Geoff Peters.

Dolan has been a regular with Rovers over the last 12 months, making as many as 36 appearances last season in a host of different positions.

Naturally a right-winger, Dolan can also feature on the left, as an attacking-midfielder, or as a centre-forward. The England under-20 international managed 5 goals and 3 assists last term [Transfermarkt].

It’s been claimed by Peters that the fee Blackburn would be looking for to take the attacker would be in the region of £2m-£3m. This comes with Dolan having 2 years left on his contract.

It’s unclear as to whether Celtic would see the player operating as a striker or as a winger. The Hoops already have plenty of competition in Dolan’s natural right-flank role. However, they are in the market for another centre-forward.

Celtic will face Blackburn Rovers in a pre-season friendly at Parkhead on July 16th.

Tyrhys Dolan ready for a step-up?

Dolan is certainly a talent and one that Blackburn Rovers fans certainly don’t want to lose. And not this early given he’s only 20 years of age.

However, if Celtic were to come in for him and offer Blackburn £2m, it would be difficult to see this one not going through.

Then again, Nottingham Forest and Rangers have also been mentioned as clubs interested in a move. The former could be tricky to battle against given they’ll be playing in the EPL next season. Thankfully, we can now combat that with the prospect of UEFA Champions League football.

Any player that gets the opportunity to join Celtic Park this summer will be hugely lucky. They’ll be entering a much more positive environment than what they would’ve joined had they been here 12 months ago.

It would be interesting to know what Dolan himself would want from any potential move. You would have to think that he’ll be eyeing up more regular football next season. Whether that’s someting we could offer him is questionable.

But in any case, it’s yetr another player to add to the transfer watchlist.
