Celtic have reportedly made a move for South Korean midfielder Kwon Hyeok-kyu, according to reports from his homeland.
The 21-year-old currently plays for K-League 2 side Busan IPark but has recently come off the back of a loan spell at Gimcheon Sangmu in the top flight whilst completing his military service.
Hyeok-kyu is believed to be highly rated in his homeland and has turned out for his nation’s under-23s side on seven occasions.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou appears to be aiming to let a few of his current midfield options go, with Yosuke Ideguchi and Oliver Abildgaard’s futures at the club in doubt.
However, he could still be looking to bolster his options in the middle of the park, with a move for Yokohama F Marinos man Tomoki Iwata reportedly nearing completion.
And according to reports in South Korea, Postecoglou is targeting another midfielder in the January window, in the form of Kwon Hyeok-kyu [Sports Chosun].

The report states that the Bhoys have sent out several offers for the youth international as they target a move to bring the midfielder to Glasgow.
Hyeok-kyu’s strongest position is believed to be defensive midfield, but he is also a versatile option who can play as a central midfielder and also as part of a back three.
Going off the report, the youngster sounds like he has a similar profile to Iwata, who is already on his way to Parkhead. So, it will be interesting to see how this one advances in the coming days.

Celtic’s proactive moves in the transfer window continue, with reports suggesting another move from Ange Postecoglou.
Having already made two additions before the window is even open, Ange Postecoglou has continued to be proactive in the market.
The Celtic boss is closing in on one signing from the J-League, as he aims to add last season’s player of the year from a familiar market.
However, he is also targeting other new transfer markets, with the Hoops being linked with moves for several players from South Korea.
First Cho Gue-Sung of Jeonbuk, and now the young midfielder Kwon Hyeok-kyu from Bosun IPark.
With several offers already reportedly been placed from the Hoops, the South Korean under-23 international must be a player that is highly regarded by the recruitment team at Parkhead.

As mentioned, it sounds as though he has a similar profile to Iwata. So, it remains to be seen if a move will come off for both players, or just one, with Postecoglou, potentially choosing to pass on Kwon Hyeok-kyu.
Either way, it is certainly exciting to see the Bhoys being so proactive in the transfer market, and the Celtic boss is still aiming to create that edge by shopping in underrated and undervalued markets from across the globe.
