Celtic have reportedly agreed a fee with Melbourne City for attacker Marco Tilio as Brendan Rodgers closes in on the second signing of his return to the Bhoys.
The club have already landed Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga, bolstering Rodgers’ midfield options. Now the club are moving for winger Tilio, who has impressed in the A-League this season.
The Daily Record reports that a deal has been struck with City for the 21-year-old, with personal terms and a medical now pending as he considers a future in European football.
Marco Tilio ready for big Celtic move
Tilio has made 82 appearances in all competitions for City since signing in the 2020/21 season, earning plaudits and catching the eye as one of the nation’s next big exports. He’s already earned seven caps with the national team, too.
In this most recent season, he netted ten goals and assisted six more in 29 league appearances, helping City into the grand final where they lost out to Central Coast Mariners. He has previously won three major honours with the club.
Now he’s ready for a step up and it’s apparently Celtic at the front of the queue. The club are moving swiftly on transfer targets despite a change in manager, with many already identified by Mark Lawwell and Ange Postecoglou before the latter’s exit to Tottenham Hotspur.

Rodgers has already spoken of his happiness with the recruitment set-up at Celtic and signed off on the arrival of Holm after meeting him in Spain prior to his official confirmation. Clearly, he’ll be well on board with the Tilio signing if it goes through, too.
Tilio can play in a variety of attacking roles, including on both wings. Most of his experience has come on the right side but, as we’ve seen at the Bhoys, versatility is key.
Everyone will be excited to see what he can offer and hopefully, we hear news of his confirmed signing soon.
In other news, Brendan Rodgers tells Celtic support what his initial European ambitions look like.
