Celtic are ‘pressing hard’ for a decision from top transfer target Vinicius Souza, according to the Daily Record.
The Hoops have been interested in bringing the Lommel midfielder to the club as Ange Postecoglou attempts to add to the midfielders in his squad.
Talks have reportedly been ongoing with the player’s representatives since the end of last season. However, clubs from across Europe are also chasing the Brazilian’s signature.
Whilst the City Group are keen to facilitate a deal that would see Souza move to Parkhead next season, the player’s agent continues to be in discussions with sides from Germany, Spain and Turkey as he weighs up his options.
According to the Daily Record, Ange Postecoglou isn’t keen to wait around much longer and appears to have delivered a transfer ultimatum.
The report states that although both parties remain in talks over a potential deal, Celtic are approaching the point they need an answer. If Souza isn’t prepared to commit to the club, the Bhoys will move to other available options.
It certainly seems like the 23-year-old has been one of Postecoglou’s top targets this summer, with talks about a move starting all the way back in May.
However, as the Celtic manager has shown in the past, he isn’t someone who will be made to wait, and Ange will have a few tricks up his sleeve if that is the case.
Should Souza commit to the Bhoys within the next few days, it would mark a superb piece of business by the former Socceroos boss and his staff.
But, the club does have other options and are correct to be keeping them open with the midfielder’s future next season remaining up in the air.
Hopefully, we are able to discover Souza’s decision later this week.
It should provide Postecoglou with the closure that he needs to move on to another deal, and bring in another much-needed midfield option to add to his squad.
In other news, Celtic intensity levels already sky-high during “tough” Austria double-session.
