Celtic were approached by Ligue 1 side Monaco regarding Odsonne Edouard this weekend, according to website Get French Football News.
The outlet say that Celtic have absolutely no desire to sell the star striker this month and rejected any advances.
It’s also reported that the player himself isn’t agitating for a move away from Glasgow this month despite interest from his homeland.
No fee or any kind of official bid is mentioned.
Entering the final week of the transfer window it’s no surprise to hear that clubs are interested in Edouard.
Not only has he been getting the job done for Celtic this season but he’s also scored an outstanding 11 goals in six appearances for the France U21 side (Transfermarkt), marking him out as a future international for one of the best football countries in the world.
Showed his worth yesterday
Despite starting the match on the bench yesterday at Celtic Park, there was no mistake about who the top performer on the day was when the full-time whistle was blown.
Edouard was substituted on just after the hour mark and wasted no time in scoring a double that helped us on our way to a 3-0 victory over Ross County, with his second particularly showing off his class in front of goal.
It’s the kind of impact we’ve come to expect from the Frenchman and highlighted against just how important he is to our bid for trophies over the coming months.
He’s now scored 19 goals and assisted 15 times in all competitions for us this season. In the Scottish Premiership, he’s scored 15 in 19 appearances (Transfermarkt).
Hopefully, Celtic’s resolute stance continues in the face of any other coming interest before the end of January.
We must keep him at all costs.
