Celtic look set to beat a number of top clubs to the signature of teenage prospect Bruno Davidson, according to a Sunday report from The Daily Record.

The paper say that Newcastle United, Leicester City, West Ham United and Southampton were all keen on the player’s signature, but that Celtic hope to sign the youngster up on a three-year deal this week.

Davidson is a product of the Hutchison Vale set up, which was described by BBC Scotland as the country’s ‘most fruitful football academy’ earlier this year.

Stars such as John Collins, Leigh Griffiths and Alfred Finnbogason have all played for the club over the decades, alongside a host of other players who would go on to enjoy top careers and play for their national team.

With the young winger not turning 16 until April, it’s said that the Hoops will be looking to add the player to the development squad at Lennoxtown, preparing him for life in Neil Lennon’s first-team squad.

Celtic are signing lots of teenage talent

If Davidson signs, he’ll be joining a group of teenage talent that is looking increasingly exciting. Young players such as Jeremie Frimpong, Luca Connell, Lee O’Connor and Jonathan Afolabi have all joined the club recently.

With others such as Karamoko Dembele and Armstrong Oko-Flex also attracting a bit of hype, the youngster will have a great group to work with and grow his skills alongside.

Lennon has demonstrated over the years he is not afraid to give youngsters a chance in his first-team if he feels they are good enough, so the route to senior action is clear.

It appears that Davidson is certainly a name to keep an eye on in the coming years.
