Celtic could reach agreement on the exit of Tom Rogic to an unnamed Qatari side within the next 24 hours, The Daily Mail reports.
Rogic was named on the bench for the opening Scottish Premiership match against Hamilton and last night’s Champions League qualifier against KR Reykjavik.
He looked to be closing in on earning his first competitive minutes since March.
However, the attacking midfielder is now on the verge of a £4m exit, with the club expected to agree terms on a transfer to Qatar, The Mail states.
The Australian has wowed supporters throughout his time at Celtic with dramatic late goals, excellent close control and quick feet that have bamboozled opposition defenders.
His biggest moment came in the 2017 Scottish Cup Final when he scored the stunning last-minute effort against Aberdeen that sealed an invincible treble.
In recent years injury issues have again reared their head and it seems he’ll leave Celtic Park without ever truly realising his potential.
Rogic’s contract doesn’t expire until 2023, after he signed a five-year deal in 2018, so whoever is getting him for £4m is bargain hunting.
On his day, the man the man they call the Wizard of Oz can compete at the highest level and if he can stay fit the 27-year-old will be a massive asset.
Manager Neil Lennon is now set to sanction his exit and that’s a big call, with Celtic not exactly blessed for depth when it comes to personnel who can play behind Celtic strikers.
Ryan Christie has made the position his own recently but is still warming up this season.
