Report: Celtic showing interest in Fenerbahce winger
Celtic are still showing interest in Fenerbahce winger Bright Osayi-Samuel after missing out in January, Turkish outlet Fotospor has reported.
The Bhoys were heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old when he was still at English Championship side QPR.
It was reported by The Scottish Mail on Sunday in December that he was one of Neil Lennon’s big priorities heading into the January window.
However, he eventually signed a pre-contract with the Turkish side before later completing a later, immediate transfer.
The winger has made 18 appearances since his move, but it appears that he could be set for an exit.
Fotospor say Celtic, Rangers and Monaco are all showing interest in the winger, who could leave as part of a five-player exodus.
Whether that would be on a loan or permanent basis is unknown. He signed a four-year contract with them less than six months ago. It would be odd if they were completely writing him off.
Celtic need a player like Bright Osayi-Samuel
Celtic badly need wide attacking players in the door. Osayi-Samuel possesses plenty of power and pace. At QPR, he had begun to find the finishing touch too. That was about when the Bhoys’ interest first started being reported.
With just James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele heading into next season, a signing or too with the profile of the 23-year-old would go down a treat.
Other big clubs, and Rangers, are also in the mix, so if our interest is genuine it’s important we don’t play the long game with this one.
