Dundee have enquired with Celtic about the possibility of signing youngster Ewan Henderson on loan for the rest of the season.
The Evening Telegraph reports that Dees boss James McPake is looking for a replacement for Jordan McGhee after he underwent surgery earlier this week.
It’s said The Dark Blues are now awaiting the decision of Celtic on the 20-year-old.
Clubs in the second-tier have until the end of February to sign players on loan, despite the winter transfer window closing.
This could be a good move for the talented midfielder. He isn’t close to getting any regular action under Neil Lennon.
Dundee are pushing for a promotion play-off place in the Scottish Championship. That pressure to win consistently would serve Henderson well.
It’s unclear why the youngster is not getting opportunities at Celtic. He’s done well enough when given a chance, such as against Lille in the UEFA Europa League earlier this season.
His contract isn’t due to expire until the summer of 2022, so he still has a bit of time to make an impression on a Celtic manager.
I still have hopes for Henderson. I’d like to see him get a sustained chance in a senior side, whether at Celtic or another club.

He’ll need to start making serious progress soon though or he could end up on his way out of the Hoops, like his brother Liam, who is enjoying a successful career in Italy.
That’s not a bad plan B!
For now, hopefully, this Dundee quest comes off.
In other news, Neil Lennon has been talking about wantaway Celtic players again.
