Celtic could finally be about to say goodbye to defender Jack Hendry, nearly two years after he arrived from Dundee, The Scottish Sun report.
The paper say the £1m Brendan Rodgers blunder is set to be offered an escape route to Hearts, with a number of English Championship sides also keen on his signature.
It’s said he will be allowed to leave the club during the current transfer window, having been almost entirely frozen out by manager Neil Lennon since he arrived as boss last February.
Hearts boss Daniel Stendel is aware of his availability as he looks to rescue Hearts’ season.
Celtic assistant boss John Kennedy suggested to Sky Sports News earlier today that the player may leave the club to get his career back on track.
Great chance to get rid of deadwood
I have nothing personal against Hendry. He’s a young player trying to make his way in the game. However, it’s fair to say that his exit will be welcomed given his lack of impact since being signed by Rodgers.
He’s made 27 appearances for the Bhoys, but it’s hard to recall a great performance amongst that, with memories of his play likely to be based on his lack of composure on the ball and shaky displays in European competition.

The 24-year-old is not the only player who should be sent packing this January. The window is not only an opportunity to sign some quality but to get some of the deadwood in the squad.
Eboue Kouassi stands out as another expensive January signing that surely doesn’t have a future at Celtic Park, while Scott Sinclair is probably earning a wage well beyond his status as an occasional bench warmer.
Hopefully, Hendry can find renewed success elsewhere but when it comes to his Celtic career, we’ll do well to get rid of a spare performer with two years left on his contract.
