Liverpool are ‘closing in’ on the signing of Celtic youngster Ben Doak, it has been reported by The Athletic today.
The outlet says Celtic will only receive minor compensation for his move due to the fact he has yet to sign professional terms with the Bhoys.
Ange Postecoglou recently gave Doak appearances in the Celtic first-team, which is said in the report to have been a ploy to help convince the talented teenager he has a future in Glasgow.

However, after being courted by multiple teams, Doak is said to value the prospect of working with Jurgen Klopp as he looks to establish a career for himself.
Celtic have been no stranger to moves like this in recent years with Liam Morrison and Barry Hepburn moving to Bayern Munch, while Josh Adam made a similar switch to Manchester City.
Obviously there’s a long way to go for Doak to establish himself at first-team level at Anfield but he clearly feels this will be the best move for his development.
It’s disappointing for Celtic because Doak looked like quite the talent, and first-team chances could have been available, but Postecoglou has consistently spoken about only wanting players at the club who are eager to be here.
If Doak sees his future elsewhere, we simply move on and focus on others.
