Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney would prefer a move to Celtic over Brentford this summer, despite the English club tabling a more impressive transfer offer, The Glasgow Times reports.
Celtic are said to have submitted a £4m opening offer for the League One striker, with add-ons that could see Posh end up netting £6m.
However, promotion hopefuls Brentford have offered £6m outright.
Peterborough have rejected both advances, looking for an eight-figure fee, but the report explains that Toney is keen on a switch to Glasgow.
Toney’s prior relationship with new Celtic coach Gavin Strachan as well as the lure of European football are stated to be factors for the striker when deciding on his future.
The 24-year-old was in red hot form throughout the 2019/20 season and would be an exciting acquisition for supporters of the Scottish champions.
He scored an impressive 26 goals in 36 matches across the league and FA Cup, also registering seven assists (Transfermarkt).
That kind of clinical direct goal contribution would fit right into a rampant Celtic attack in the Scottish Premiership.
The former Newcastle United prospect now appears ready to make the next big step in his career and with just a year left on his contract at Peterborough is surely an attainable target for the Hoops.

Neil Lennon already has Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths, Patryk Klimala and Vakoun Bayo at the club but only one of them is a guaranteed consistent performer.
If the manager is planning on using two strikers again this season then bringing someone like Toney in should be a big priority before the transfer window closes.
With Toney looking at Glasgow as an attractive destination, this is one potential deal to follow very closely over the coming weeks.
In other news, Vasilis Barkas visited Lennoxtown, met Neil Lennon and completed a Celtic medical today.
