Celtic have switched priorities in the transfer market this summer, moving focus from Josip Juranovic to Yan Couto.
The Bhoys have been linked heavily with both players in recent weeks.
As we discussed earlier, Croatian outlet Index have since reported that Celtic’s valuation of Josip Juranovic doesn’t match Legia Warsaw’s.
Now, it seems that Celtic are willing to move on completely from the Croatian international. Now they’ll pursue talented Man City youngster Couto.
That’s the report from Polish journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk, who has told his near 100,000 followers on Twitter: “I have full confirmation. Celtic yesterday decided that their priority is Yan Couto from Manchester City. And they will try to bring him on loan. There is also interest from SC Braga in his case. If it collapses, they can go back to Juranovic.”
It’s been reported that Couto was in attendance at Celtic Park last night as Ange Postecoglou’s Bhoys thrashed Jablonec. If he values passionate support and a place to play attractive football, he is surely intrigued by the Celtic offer.
Yan Couto to Celtic makes a lot of sense
Couto doesn’t have much of a chance of breaking into Pep Guardiola’s first-team on a consistent basis, but the Brazilian youngster has talent.

That was enough to see him included in City’s pre-season preparations, which culminated in a spot on the bench for last week’s Community Shield clash against Leicester City.

Even being on the fringes of that squad suggests he is capable of making an impact at Celtic, where only Anthony Ralston is currently in place at right-back.
Celtic ideally need to strengthen the squad again in time for the upcoming AZ Alkmaar tie, so the sooner we bring someone like Couto in, the better.
