It seems that Celtic are close to completing a big transfer deal that could signal a change in the club’s transfer policy.
The Daily Record are reporting that the Hoops have agreed a fee of up to £8 million with Toulouse for their centre-back Christopher Jullien.
Change in policy

Should the deal go through, it would be one of the most expensive transfers in the club’s history. It would also signal a bit of a change in the club’s transfer policy.
In recent years, for the most part when Celtic have signed players it has been to sell them on at a huge profit after a few seasons.

The most recent examples of this are Stewart Armstrong and Moussa Dembele. In the past the likes of Fraser Forster, Victor Wanayama and Virgil Van Dijk fit into the category.
Not bought to be sold on for profit in a few years
This would be a different transfer. As Jullien is 26 years old, he is not a player who has been bought with potential in mind.

He is a signing for the here and now, as the Hoops desperately need some new centre-backs. In certain cases, the old policy will still happen – David Turnbull, should that deal go through, for example.
However, it seems that experienced players who can fit into the side right away will also be signed by the club. That is no bad thing. If it helps the Hoops qualify for the Champions League and win nine in a row, all the better.
