With the impending departure of Mikael Lustig from Celtic, the club are in need of a new right-back. At the moment Anthony Ralston is the only player on the books who can play that position.

He might be able to do a job for the Hoops in the short-term, but in the weeks to come Celtic need to add a new right-back to the squad.

A possible solution to the problem could be found in the Championship in England. The Hoops should consider making a move for Sheffield Wednesday’s right-back Liam Palmer.

Picture of consistency

The player has been a picture of consistency for Wednesday, making 39 appearances for Wednesday. So well has Palmer done that he made his international debut last season.

He played for Scotland in their 3-0 loss to Kazakhstan. That shouldn’t put the Hoops off going for the player. The entire Scotland team was poor that night.

Need to sign right-back is severe

Palmier might not be the most exciting of transfers but Celtic really need to sign a right-back. They cannot go into next season with only one on the books.

Therefore, a move for Palmer makes sense. Sheffield Wednesday might not want to sell the player. But the Hoops have the trump card of Europe and trophies.

It remains to be seen if Palmer is on a list of possible new signings for the Hoops. However, he is definitely a player that Neil Lennon should consider signing.
