Scott Brown is set to sign another young Celtic talent at Fleetwood Town, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun say that Irish defender Bosun Lawal is due to join the EFL League One side on a season-long loan.

Brown is just beginning his second season with Fleetwood, and finished 13th in the 24-team league last season.

The Cods have former Celtic youngster Scott Robertson on their books as a permanent player, and also completed a season-long loan deal for Hoops full-back Adam Montgomery in July.

20-year-old Lawal would become the third Celtic connection at the club, on top of Brown, while big Hoops fan Shaun Rooney also on the club’s books.

Brown is known to have a strong relationship with current Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, with the pair working together for a hugely successful period between 2016 and 2019.

Last season, in his Leicester City days, Rodgers allowed player Will Russ to move to Fleetwood. Similar moves at Celtic have already occurred, and more seem likely.

In theory, it should work out well for all parties. Brown and Fleetwood get some good talents who should stand out in the English third tier with the right coaching.

The departing players, meanwhile, get good development opportunities under a manager who knows what it takes to be successful at Celtic.

Lawal is unlikely to get much game-time in Glasgow this season so a loan would be viewed as a positive move.

The likes of Ben McPherson and Ben Summers have already departed on temporary deals this week while there is also speculation about Rocco Vata.
