Scott Brown is taking another Celtic youngster on loan at Ayr United, it is being reported.

Brown currently has Jude Bonnar and Kyle Ure on the books at Somerset Park, but the latter is currently out injured.

Last season, he took Josh Clarke and Lenny Agbaire from Celtic Park, earning the latter a move to Rotherham United.

But after Ure’s injury vacated another spot in Ayr’s midfield, the Hoops legend is now reportedly set to replace him with Ben Summers, according to the Celtic Way.

The deal will make Summers the latest in a long list of Celtic talents to make the move to Scotland’s second tier on a temporary basis.

Summers was first promoted to first team under Ange Postecoglou, who voiced his excitement around the midfielder.

The following season, he moved on loan to Dunfermline Athletic – though this was before they hired fellow Hoops legend, Neil Lennon.

He then moved on loan to Admira Wacker in the Austrian second tier, as part of an affiliation which also saw Tobi Oluwayemi and Ben McPherson make the same move.

He has since been battling with injury issues, often training with the first team but only featuring in Glasgow Cup matches for the youth sides.

Summers’ contract expires at the end of the season, having last been extended in August 2023. He has been at Celtic since the age of seven.

As well as at Ayr, Celtic also currently have a young pair out on loan at Partick Thistle, who are managed by another ex-Celt in Mark Wilson.

Clarke, who previously played for Ayr, and the aforementioned McPherson are currently mainstays at Firhill – of course, neither was eligible when the sides met in the Premier Sports Cup earlier this season.

B-team captain Mitchell Robertson is on loan at Inverness in League One at the moment, though he is reportedly set to complete a move to Livingston.

Scott Brown on Celtic youngster Kyle Ure

Brown had some extremely encouraging words to say about Ure speaking to The Breakdown podcast earlier this month.

He said: “[Ure] went over with Scotland’s U21s and ruptured his hamstring. Very good. Honestly, mini Callum McGregor.

“Very, very robust. Gets after people. Wants the ball. Lovely left foot. He’s a very, very intelligent footballer. Aye, (he plays maturely).

“So, if you change shape, with what Cal (McGregor) does. Cal will fall in. Push KT (Kieran Tierney) out and fall into a back four. He’ll jump in. He’ll know when to go and jump out wide as well. Kyle is the exact same.

“Kyle is at the top of everything. Stats-wise. Aye, so good. Even small details. See if you are doing fast feet in warm-ups and that. Everything is done properly. It’s intense. The first thing a manager and coach see.”
