Scott Sinclair exit should lead to Celtic transfer moves

Scott Sinclair’s impending move to Preston signals an end of an era at Celtic. The attacker, who has had a medical with the Championship side, was a key man under Brendan Rodgers. His departure might well signal the start of the break-up of the team which won the last 10 trophies in a row.

Perhaps more importantly, Sinclair’s exit will mean that Celtic will get a player who is reportedly their highest-paid player off the wage bill.

The Scottish Sun reported in May that the player was on the most money of any Celtic player. Now that Sinclair is set to leave, the Hoops have that money to play with.

That should mean that there are no excuses for the Hoops not to splash the cash in the January transfer window. The Hoops should have been aiming to push the boat out anyway to land nine in a row, but now with Sinclair set to leave there really is no excuses.

Celtic can make some major signings in January. It would get the fans back on side after the loss to Rangers in the last game before the winter break.

The Hoops owe it to the fans to make-up for what was a sluggish performance in that game. Celtic really could make some deals which all but guarantee nine in a row should they spend wisely.

That is what Neil Lennon and Nick Hammond will be aiming to do in the next few weeks. The transfer window has started off slowly for the Hoops, perhaps the exit of Sinclair will start to speed things up a bit.

There is still time for the Hoops to get deals done, but a week into the January window that has yet to happen. Hopefully some deals are announced in the next few days to get things going.
