One of the mainstays of Celtic’s ‘treble treble’ is reportedly wanted by an English Premier League side. The Scottish Sun is reporting that Sheffield United are set to make a move for Scott Sinclair.

The report goes on to claim that the player ‘could’ leave the Hoops for £2 million and that Middlesborough are also interested.

Over 50 goals in three seasons

Sinclair has been one of the most important players for Celtic over the last three season. He has scored over 50 goals for the Hoops in that time.

Last season was not one of his best for the club, but he still managed to score 17 goals. Neil Lennon must feel that he will still do a job for the Hoops. He and the club extended the player’s contract for another season.

Could leave if price was right

However, he did lose his place in the first-team last season. That could tempt the Hoops into thinking about selling the player, if the price was right.

£2 million would seem a bargain for a player who has been so consistent in finding the back of the net for three seasons.

Perhaps because he only has a year left on his contract, Sheffield United think that £2 million is a fair price. You would have to imagine that Celtic are looking for at least double that though.

At this moment in time, Celtic would not be looking to sell Sinclair. However, anything can happen in football, and perhaps in a few weeks they will decide to cash in on the player.
