Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is not expected to seek a transfer away from the club until the summer window, Sky Sports have reported this evening.
As we discussed yesterday, the Frenchman has followed in the footsteps of high-profile English-based superstars by switching agents.
The Celtic striker is preparing to make a push for a big transfer away from the club.
However, it likely won’t be this month, according to Sky Sports man Anthony Joseph.
He said on Twitter: “Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has switched agents and is now represented by London-based firm ICM Stellar Sports.
“Sky Sports understands that he plans to stay at the club until the end of the season and will look to move to one of the top European leagues in the summer.”
Celtic in no rush to transfer Odsonne Edouard
It’s hard to foresee Celtic selling many players in January despite being so far behind in the Scottish Premiership title race.
Players not getting any game time, such as Olivier Ntcham, might be fair game.
However, our big stars such as Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer will undoubtedly wait until the summer to move.
It may be hard to take for supporters, having players around who we know are on their way out.
However, that’s the reality of modern football. The truth is that players such as Edouard and Ajer add more than they take from the team, even with uncertain Celtic futures.
The club were in a difficult position heading into this season.
They decided to hold on to prize assets even as they were at peak value. It’s unlikely they’ll divert from that strategy now.
Fans have given a mixed reaction to the update from Sky Sports. There are certainly those who only want committed players in the team.
Others are happy to deal with things patiently, recognising what Edouard has given us over the years.
These supporters have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
Sell him now and clear the rest of the wasters out including the board and management.

Punt now. No point stalling. The rebuild starts in January, not the summer.

He needs to get his finger out in the next few months if wants to move to one of the big leagues

Fair enough, but lets hope he gets his finger out and its a win-win at the end of the season when a huge bid comes in.

His value, and options, are deteriorating rapid. Should’ve and wanted to go last summer and there were no bids – where he thinks he’s going next summer I have no clue… must be some agents.

Get rid now imo.

No matter how much I have, and further will, prepare myself, I am not ready for this heartbreak. https://t.co/luZYMXrf9x

Sell him now, not tried a leg in weeks, an empty shirt, undoubtedly a world class talent in the making but if his hearts not in it get him punted? https://t.co/WZvsxgEKki

Six months to get myself prepared for heartbreak and even then it still won’t be enough. https://t.co/W5GazPmyKU
