Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has tweeted another intriguing update on potential Celtic transfer activity.

Joseph has quickly become the main man for Hoops transfer rumours this summer, as Neil Lennon aims to strengthen his squad for the historic shot at ten in-a-row.

The Sky employee has tweeted numerous updates on potential Hoops signings, and was one of the key outlets reporting our initial interest in Albian Ajeti.

It is no surprise then that the Hoops faithful are tuned in to what he has to say.

And the journalist posted another interesting update on Friday afternoon.

Breakthrough with Doughty?

Joseph took to Twitter just after lunchtime to share the major breaking news story that Thomas Sandgaard had completed his takeover of Charlton Athletic.

Hoops fans would already be trying to put two and two together with regards to our interest in Athletic winger/full-back Alfie Doughty.

But, thankfully, Joseph completed his update by tweeting again – and suggesting that this news could be a real positive in our pursuit of the youngster.

To be fair to Joseph, he was more thinking out loud rather than actually reporting any Celtic development.

But the news of Charlton’s takeover will certainly have some impact on our apparent chase for Doughty.

As the Glasgow Times reported ten days ago, we had a second bid for Doughty of around £650,000 turned down by the Addicks.

Given that report, and the fact that Nick Hammond has watched the player, it’s fair to assume that we are very keen to bring him to the club.

We badly need a left-sided full-back to compliment, or replace, Greg Taylor. Doughty gets the thumbs up from us.

Hopefully this development improves our chances of signing him, just as Joseph reckons it might.

In other news, Celtic have allowed another youngster to leave the club on loan
