Some Celtic supporters are still keen on the idea of signing Motherwell player David Turnbull, after he provided an update on the status of his comeback from injury.
During the summer transfer window, Turnbull came incredibly close to making a switch to Celtic after the Hoops reportedly agreed a £3.25m fee for his services (The Herald).
Ultimately he failed a medical, which uncovered a knee problem, and he is still recovering from that issue to this day.
However, he is hopeful and progress is being made on a return.
Speaking to Motherwell club media, he said this week: “I was on crutches for six to eight weeks and then after that I was at the gym building strength to get my leg back the way it was.
“You don’t know how long it will be or what else will happen, it’s just good to be off the crutches. It’s been all positive.
“It’s good seeing the boys every day, they keep my spirits up. I’ve been to most games home and away but sometimes it’s tough wishing you were out there, but I know my time will come.”
Still has support
The Hoops are currently pretty well stocked in midfield, with stars such as Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, Olivier Ntcham and Ryan Christie available.
Turnbull though still appears to have the support of some Celtic fans, who feel he can really add something to Neil Lennon’s squad.
He’s just 20 and has excellent potential, even though he’s suffered a setback this year.
His goalscoring and all-round play for the Steelmen last season was impressive and it’d been very interesting to see how he’d develop with the Bhoys.
These fans have taken to Twitter this week to share their thoughts on signing him…
Take it easy in your recovery mate, you’ll get your move to the hoops in good time. Although the well are a decent team to watch this season, you’d make them a force to be reckoned with.
