Celtic have officially announced the signature of Polish striker Patryk Klimala today, making him Neil Lennon’s first acquisition of the January transfer window.

In a surprise turn of events, the club actually announced the transfer in conjunction with the launch of their official TikTok channel.

A short video showed Hoopy the Huddle Hound dancing to music, with the image of Klimala eventually popping up on the trendy social media site.

It’s one of the more innovative ways that the club have unveiled a player in recent years but it didn’t wholly go down well with supporters.

The media team at Celtic Park eventually followed it up with a more traditional tweet and story on the club website, with an interview also posted.

It has been confirmed that the forward has joined on a four-and-a-half-year deal and he was clearly delighted to secure his big move.

As quoted by, he said: “I’m very happy to be here at such a massive club.

“The last 24 hours were intense. I was waiting for the decision to be finalised so I could finally come here and meet everyone. I had the chance to see the stadium and I felt the atmosphere.

“It was amazing so I’m looking forward to playing here in front of the fans. I’m very happy that everything is finished now and looking good.”

Hopefully, he can hit the ground running in the Hoops and have a big part to play in the second half of the season.

Thankfully fans are being far more receptive to the player himself, rather than the way he was announced, with plenty taking to social media in the wake of the news to share their thoughts on it all.
