Celtic are in the process of trying to sign Sheffield United star Billy Sharp, according to The Sunday Post.
The paper say that Neil Lennon is on the hunt for two strikers during the current transfer window, with Sharp one of the big targets alongside Slovenian forward Andraz Sporar.
Sharp is an icon at his beloved Blades after his goals propelled to promotion from both League One and the Championship into the Premier League.
Now they’ve reached the elite level though he is struggling to earn game time behind players such as Oli McBurnie.
The striker is now 33 so he’s unlikely to have a long-term future at Celtic Park if he signs but could perhaps do a healthy job in the Scottish top-flight in and around the box.
As a short-term loan option, he could play a valuable back-up role to Odsonne Edouard and reported target Andraz Sporar.
Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Bayo haven’t contributed much in the first half of the season and it makes perfect sense that Lennon would look to strengthen the position ahead of a tough run-in.

Does Sharp have the quality required?
These supporters have taken to Twitter this weekend to share their thoughts on the speculation…
Is the any truth in Celtic been linked with billy sharp. If true honestly I wouldn’t mind him to the end off this season yes he’s 33 but if we got him to the end a season he would definitely get goals & be a big threat to all defenders in the box to 9 in a row 🍀

Jaime, he’s slower than me, he’s been done for a while. I’ve seen the blades a lot

Defo worth a punt, he’s a goal scorer and puts in a shift, could be what we need

Hope not.

The biggest issue with this is that he wont be Eduoards replacement and that’s what we should be looking at now as he wont be here for that many more transfer windows.

I’d take him in a second.

Billy Sharp was on our radar about 4 years ago,he's a goal scorer and would probably do short term.
