At the moment, it is not yet known if Celtic will sign Rosenborg left-back Birger Meling. The player has been a transfer target for the Hoops for a few weeks, but as yet no deal has been done.
However, the chances of signing the player might have increased after Rosenborg failed to make the Champions League group stages.
The Norwegian champions drew 1-1 with Dinamo Zagreb, and went out of the competition 3-1 on aggregate.
Chances of signing player increased?

Some Celtic fans on social media feel that Rosenborg’s failure to qualify for the tournament gives the Hoops a better chance of signing the player. One fan urged Celtic to ‘get it done’.
Here are some of the best reactions from social media to the situation with Meling:

With the transfer window closing at midnight on Monday, Celtic will need to move fast to get any move for the player completed.
Move could hinge on result against AIK

Perhaps any move for Meling will hinge on Celtic’s qualification for the Europa League group stages. The Hoops have one foot in the group stages, as they have a two-goal lead over AIK.
Only time will tell if the AIK game has any influence on Celtic’s transfer plans.
Celtic do need to sign another left-back. They can’t go through the season with only one natural left-back in the squad.
Will the left-back that the club sign be Birger Meling? Only Celtic know that.
