It has taken a while, but Celtic have finally made another signing. Former Southampton youth player Jonathan Afolabi has joined the Hoops on a three-year deal.

The deal seemed to take a while to announce, given that the player attended Celtic’s recent win over Dunfermline. However, the winger, who is 19, has now joined up with his new team-mates.

The player may have to wait a while to break into the first-team, as the club has a surplus of attackers at the moment.

Hopefully he can impress Neil Lennon and make the breakthrough during the season.

The news of the signing has been met with various views from the Celtic support on social media.

Whilst there is no doubt fans would like to see the player succeed, some feel that more experienced players should be signed at this moment in time.

There is also some confusion that the Hoops are signing another attacking player.

Here are some of the best reactions from social media to Afolabi’s signing:

It is slightly unfair on the player that so many fans seem negative about the signing. That is largely nothing to do with Afloabi though.

It is more to do with how Celtic’s summer transfer window has gone so far. Hopefully this is the first of a few signings before the transfer window closes.
