Celtic are in the hunt for Victor Wanyama on transfer deadline day, according to The Daily Record.
The paper say that there’s a possibility the player can be signed on loan, despite links with Club Brugge. Spurs are said to be ready to sanction a temporary exit if a permanent deal falls through.
Hurdles remain, including negotiating for the player’s wages, but that we still have a chance of landing him ahead of the transfer window closing is a positive sign.
Wanyama was a popular player during Neil Lennon’s first spell at the club and has gone on to play for years at the elite level.
A return would be a fantastic boost to our squad, giving us incredible depth and competition in the middle of the park.
Scott Brown is currently our prime defensively-minded pick in that area, but beyond the captain there aren’t great options.
Nir Bitton is primarily used as a centre-back these days while Eboue Kouassi looks further away than ever from first-team action.
The Kenyan would certainly be seen as an upgrade on all of those options, even including the captain.

It’s fair to say that supporters are pretty keen on a Wanyama deal, with some feeling he is the missing piece of the puzzle in Lennon’s starting eleven.
These fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on all the speculation…
