Some Celtic supporters are into the idea of signing Charlton Athletic wideman Alfie Doughty before October’s transfer deadline.
Neil Lennon appears to want him in his first-team squad this season following positive feedback.
He offers versatility but could be best used as a hybrid wing-back in a 3-5-2 system, having experience of operating as a winger and a left-back in his short career so far.
The 20-year-old was on target for the Addicks over the weekend and has been talked up by former Celtic favourite Aiden McGeady recently.
67 Hail Hail’s Hamish Carton took a close look at his situation on our YouTube channel earlier today if you want the lowdown on his talents.
He reckons we have a good shot of landing the youngster and that he could even make a Jeremie Frimpong-style impact on the Celtic squad this season.
With less than a year left on his contract, Celtic shouldn’t be strong-armed into paying an extortionate fee, but anything around the £1m mark looks to be a fair wedge considering his status.
I’m hoping we see more progress on this one over the next few weeks.
We have a dire need for a left-sided speedster, Doughty fits the bill, he’s affordable, let’s go and get him – get the third bid in!
Supporters on Twitter have been thinking along the same lines over the last few days, with this lot taking to the social media site to share their thoughts…
After yesterday he should be a priority now

Sign Alfie Doughty and get a winger to challenge Forrest or Elyounoussi and we are officially going to Gdansk https://t.co/Tio5LNnBgp

Hopefully we submit a third bid nearer to £1 million and get him in. Looks a good one.

Looks quality. Hopefully don’t mess about with the next bid and get him in.
Looks exactly what we need and versatile..

100% could do a job

Lightning fast and likes to face up a full back and run at him, something we don’t get from Taylor or Forrest plus we’re going to need fast nimble players like him and Frimpong when we play the huns because none of our CB’s will cope with Ryan Kents pace or movement just now.
