Some Celtic fans love the idea of signing Fraser Forster on a permanent basis after he declared he would ‘never say no’ to the club.

The goalkeeper has been in exceptional form since returning to the Hoops on loan from Southampton during the summer transfer window.

He’s earned most of his plaudits for superb saves against Lazio in the Europa League last Thursday night. His stunning last minute stop essentially secured all three points.

This week he’s commented on a potential permanent stay, telling The Scottish Sun: “It’s so early in the season, but for me, I’d never ever say no to Celtic.

“It’s just the relationship I have with everyone here — the fans, people within the club and the coaching staff.

“That was the big thing for me in the summer when I had to get back out and get back playing.”

There are obvious barriers to signing the 6ft 7in talent, most notably his £70,000-a-week wages (Spotrac) and lengthy contract at Southampton. His current deal doesn’t expire until 2022.

How the financials would work out is unknown, but fans are nonetheless eager to see the club at least attempt a move for the player.
