Stunned Norwich City fans react to the latest Adam Idah to Celtic update

Norwich City fans have been reacting to the latest reported bid Celtic have made for wantaway striker Adam Idah.

Idah was signed by the Hoops in January on loan until the end of the season which at the time was met with despondency from the Parkhead faithful.

But the Irishman quickly proved his worth in the green and white hoops and played a major part in Celtic’s Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double success.

Idah delivered 11 goal contributions in 19 games for Celtic including an assist on his league debut and braces against both Hibs and Motherwell in February.

He’ll be most remembered for a dramatic Scottish Cup winner against Rangers in May. But Hoops fans can be encouraged that won’t be his last contribution in Celtic colours.

Brendan Rodgers wants Idah to return permanently, as does the player, who has been distancing himself from Norwich’s pre-season preparations in order to force through a Glasgow move.

There was positive news on Thursday evening when it was reported Celtic have made an improved offer for Idah, much to the delight of Hoops fans, after their initial £4.5m bid was rejected.

An £8m total package is what the Canaries are said to be looking for. But how did Norwich supporters react to that news? Well it’s safe to say they can’t quite get their heads around it.

Norwich fans react to Celtic target Idah valuation

Many Norwich supporters first became aware of the report via the Norwich City Updates account on X, formerly Twitter.

Fans then flocked to the replies, all of whom could hardly believe that their club value Idah at £8m. One supporter wrote: “If we get that we’ve scammed them tbf 😭”.

Another surprised punter added: “£8m , worth no where near that!!!!!!”

This fan was pretty straightforward with his assessment: “I’m a Norwich fan but if he’s nowhere near worth £8m. £5m and move on.”

The replies go on. This supporter published: “Take it!! Getting 8 million for this guy is hilarious!”

And here, a more detailed analysis: “£8m 🤣 Can’t blame their board there for not paying that. He doesn’t wanna be here and we don’t want him, he wants to be at Celtic and they do want him. Just lower that price to what they pay and move on f**”.

Norwich fans blind to Idah’s quality

Are Celtic pushing the boat out too much if their offer is indeed close to Norwich’s £8m valuation? Fans of the Canaries clearly think so.

For some of them, a fee of between £3-5m would be suffice for a striker who is desperate to leave England and rejoin the Bhoys this summer.

But the reality is that Idah proved last season how valuable he could be to Celtic over the next few years and Norwich fans don’t quite seem to grasp that.

At just 23, the forward has bags of potential at Scottish top-flight level and given Celtic’s tremendously successful player trading model, there’s a good chance the club can develop him into a £15-20m talent in two or three years.

He’ll also have a crack at Champions League football and that can only serve as a very valuable learning curve for any player, regardless of how well they perform.

£8m is very much affordable for Celtic at the moment and unlike what Norwich fans believe, it would be heralded as a sound investment in the east end of Glasgow.

But you’d have to imagine the Celtic board will be doing their all to lower that fee and reach some sort of middle ground with Norwich. The saga is certainly not over yet, that’s for sure.
