BBC pundit and former Hibernian player Tam McManus has made an interesting point about Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

He believes that when Edouard eventually leaves Celtic, he will be sold for perhaps even more than the £19.7 million the Hoops received from Lyon for Moussa Dembele.

McManus made the claim whilst appearing on the PLZ Soccer Show.

“£20 million for Dembele? I think you’re looking at a similar kind of fee for Odsonne Edouard” he said.

Edouard’s profile is probably the highest that it has ever been following a great run of performances for the France under-21 side.

He has scored nine goals in four games for the team, including a hat-trick in the recent 5-3 win over Slovakia. His performance for the under-21 side, coupled with his performances for Celtic over the last year, will no doubt have teams interested.

Could Edouard be sold for even more than Moussa Demeble? It’s possible. It could depend on the countries that the interested parties play in.

Should the teams play in England, it will have to be considered a real possibility. After all, the Hoops did receive £25 million from Arsenal for Kieran Tierney.

That is the figure that Celtic should be looking to receive from any club that wants to sign Edouard. Hopefully any move for the player does not happen until the summer at least.

Edouard is too vital to Celtic to be sold in the January transfer window. Thankfully for Celtic fans, the Daily Record has reported that the player will not be allowed to leave the club before the end of the season.

When he does leave, the club need to make sure they make a large profit from the £9 million they paid for Edouard.
