Celtic can tick off another striker from their transfer wishlist.

A fortnight ago, Celtic were ‘accelerating’ talks to try and sign highly-rated FC Aarau striker Elias Filet.

But fast forward to the present, and the reality of the Celtic board, Filet is expected to move to Belgium and sign for RAAL La Louvière.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has shared on social media that there were ‘fancier clubs’ looking to secure Filet’s signature, but he has decided to join RAAL La Louvière’s project in the Belgian Pro League.

👀 A reasonable figure?

Elias Filet to secure a ‘£517k’ transfer after Celtic interest

It was reported on Monday that Martin O’Neill wants Celtic to strengthen six areas of the pitch this summer, including wanting to sign ‘at least two strikers.’

But right now, with the non-World Cup Celtic players to report back to pre-season on Friday, no fresh new faces have arrived.

Filet, who scored 22 goals in all competitions last season, will move to Belgium for a bargain-like transfer fee of just ‘£517k’, according to Tavolieri.

It has been dubbed a ‘big coup’, and it will be interesting to see how the 24-year-old’s career pans out from here.

Even Martin O’Neill won’t be able to paper over the cracks this time…

If it wasn’t for O’Neill, Celtic wouldn’t have won the domestic double last season, and everyone wouldn’t have come together for the post-split fixtures.

With the 2026 World Cup taking centre stage, Celtic fans are forced to watch their club do next to nothing.

If these underlying issues aren’t resolved soon, the support will be just as angry and frustrated when domestic football resumes.
