Martin O’Neill and Michael Nicholson held an emergency meeting to discuss Celtic’s January transfer business this week.
So far, Celtic have only signed Julian Araujo as the Parkhead club stumbles through the first transfer window of 2026.
Celtic have been linked to a number of players this January but as yet, only rumour and whispers have dominated the headlines, not transfer announcements.
What would you say to Dermot Desmond about Celtic’s transfer model now?
And now, to speed things up, Celtic boss Martin O’Neill has met with Michael Nicholson in a bid to force through signings to bolster the squad for the title run-in.

Celtic’s key transfer targets this January
As Celtic fans wait for the second signing of the window, Nicholson and O’Neill hold their second meeting within a week to discuss who to bring to the club.
The situation is now laughable, but the Daily Record has told how the club have met to discuss four priority positions Celtic want to strengthen.
The report says, “The club have four priorities on the table and O’Neill wants them in sooner rather than later.
“Celtic have taken details about targets on their list and from this meeting tonight they are expected to narrow things down and push to finalise deals.”
This is strange, considering Celtic are now 20 days into the transfer window. Should this not have been done as soon as Martin O’Neill returned for his second spell as interim boss?
Martin O’Neill pushing hard for Celtic signings
As well as identifying four transfer ‘priorities’, it appears that Celtic are also looking to strengthen over multiple positions this January.
The report goes on to say, “They are also looking at wide options, central defenders and possibly to bring in another goalkeeper.”
No mention of a striker, but Celtic fans would have to assume that position is the top of O’Neill and Nicholson’s list.
With the transfer window closing on the 2nd of February, Celtic still have time to get players in, but that time is slowly running out.
