Celtic’s pursuit of Kilmarnock defender Greg Taylor seems to have been going on for a while. The latest development, as reported by the Daily Record, is that both the Hoops and Sunderland have bid for the player, who is rated at £3 million by the Rugby Park side.
There is nothing wrong with the Hoops having interest in the player. He has been excellent for Kilmarnock, already winning caps for Scotland. However, there does seem to be a puzzling aspect regarding Celtic’s interest in the player.
Could have moved for player weeks ago

That aspect is – why has it taken the Hoops so long to make a move for the player? Celtic should have made a move for the player as soon as Kieran Tierney completed his move to Arsenal.
However, that did not happen, and as a result, Celtic are scrambling to get the deal done before the transfer window closes on Monday night at midnight.
It has been known ever since Tierney left Celtic that the Hoops would need to sign another left-back. They cannot only have one natural left-back – Boli Bolingoli – on the books.
But so far, Taylor has yet to sign for the club. Perhaps the delay is down to Kilmarnock’s asking price. Celtic might not be too pleased about potentially playing £3 million for the player.
However, it should be remembered that the same thing happened with Kieran Tierney, only it was to Celtic’s advantage. The Hoops wouldn’t sell the player unless the £25 million asking price was met.
Situation will be resolved soon

The situation with Taylor will be resolved one way or the other within the next week. Hopefully it ends with the player signing for Celtic.
However, if the Hoops has tried to sign the player earlier in the transfer window, he could perhaps have been at the club already.
That didn’t happen though. Now Celtic face a waiting game to see if the player will join.
