There is no doubt who the form striker in Scottish football is – Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard. The Hoops attacker already has five goals and five assists this season.
Mostly recently, he scored the opening goal in the Hoops’ vital 2-0 win over Rangers. Now he has taken his talents to the international stage.
He recently made his debuts for France under-21s. It was a debut that will not be quickly forgotten. Edouard scored two goals as a second-half substitute in France’s 4-0 win over Albania.
Performances will have caught the eye
There is no doubt that Edouard’s performances over the last 12 months will have caught the eye of clubs abroad, and perhaps in England.
That is the potential downside to all of Edouard’s recent displays. It seems only a matter of time before a club make Celtic a serious offer for the player.
Interestingly, recent reports claimed that Monaco were interested in buying the player. However, they decided to pull out of any potential move for the player, even though they had begun talks with him.
They could be one of many clubs who are interested in signing for the player, who is still only 21.
Hoops would at least get big money for player
Is there anything Celtic can do if a major bid for the player comes in? It is hard to say. The Hoops have been prepared to sell some important players in recent years.
Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney have left the club in the last 12 months. However, they were both sold for a vast amount of money.
There is no doubt that Celtic would be demanding similar money for their star striker. Only time will tell for how long Edouard remains at Celtic.
Hopefully he stays at the club for at least another season. However, the more eye-catching performances he puts in, the more likely it is that a club will make a big money move for the player.
