The UEFA Celtic signing deadline for both legs of AZ Alkmaar tie
Celtic have until 11 pm on Tuesday to add two more additions to Ange Postecoglou’s squad if they are to be eligible for the upcoming matches against AZ Alkmaar.
The initial UEFA squad deadline has actually already expired. The club had until 11 pm last night to submit List A to the governing body for the UEFA Europa League playoff.
However, two more wildcard additions can be made to List A before Tuesday night. This deadline applies to both legs. [UEFA Rules]
Realistically, any incoming player isn’t going to play on Wednesday night now regardless. However, if we have an eye on bringing quality in and want them to play in the Netherlands on 26th August, they still have to be registered in a matter of days.
Celtic transfer progress has slowed ahead of AZ Alkmaar
Celtic have already brought in five first-team players this summer. However, progress has been quite slow ever since the double announcement of Joe Hart and James McCarthy on August 3rd.
A number of problem positions still need to be urgently addressed, not least the full-back areas where there is little depth and arguable quality.

The performances of Anthony Ralston have improved, but it’s a big ask for him to be the answer in the position across an entire season.
The challenge of AZ Alkmaar represents another step up in the quality of opposition.
Ange Postecoglou continues to talk up the need for transfers, so we know the club are trying. However, we really need to start seeing more tangible results than constant reports of interest in players.
Hopefully the club can pull a couple of signings out of the bag before Tuesday.
In other news, Celtic supporters could be shut out of upcoming derby.
