Thomas Henry could be a real difference-maker at Celtic

French striker Thomas Henry has lit up Celtic Twitter this morning, after the OH Leuven star was linked with a £7m move [Sun].

Firstly, his physical attributes have caught the eye. At 6’4″, Henry offers a different prospect up top. Alongside Kyogo Furuhashi, or with the Japanese forward playing off him, there’s reason to get excited by the possibilities.

However, Thomas Henry isn’t some big lump up front. While, undoubtedly, he is an aerial threat [WhoScored?], there’s more to his game than that. Composed on the ball, and more than willing to facilitate, Henry set up 5 goals last season, with 1.3 key passes per 90 in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League [WhoScored?].

Like Furuhashi, Henry is 26. And, again like Furuhashi, he would arrive in hot form if he came to Celtic. Already, he’s got 3 in 3 [Transfermarkt]. Not exactly bad going.

At a reported £7m, it’d be quite an investment by Celtic standards. But as we said months ago, Thomas Henry has the tools to either replace Odsonne Edouard, or provide a fantastic back-up option.

Celtic supporters react to Thomas Henry speculation

Celtic supporters sounded excited about the potential move. His strike rate and physical tools are seen by many as reason to believe Thomas Henry would represent good business.
