Tony Pulis has made some very promising comments on what to expect from incoming Celtic signing Liam Shaw.
Neil Lennon has confirmed the 19-year-old midfielder has signed a pre-contract with the Bhoys. He will move to Scotland from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.
Celtic will only need to pay compensation for the teenager, meaning there’s relatively little risk in bringing him to Glasgow.
Still, it’s nice to hear he is rated and has potential. That’s certainly what Pulis thinks anyway.
The former Stoke City boss worked with Shaw briefly at the Owls last year and can’t speak of him highly enough.
He told The Daily Record: “Liam is a terrific signing for Celtic, and Lenny’s done a good job in finding him and taking him to Scotland because lots of people were ringing me up and asking about him.
“I had a Premier League club ring me up to ask about him, and I gave them the same answer as I gave everyone else – that he’s a very good player with tremendous potential – so I’d definitely say they’ve pulled off a good signing.
“I only had five weeks at Sheffield Wednesday, and in my time there, I got him in the team pretty early. I’d expect him to have a really good career in the game.
“His attitude is absolutely fantastic, and with the way things are in the world just now, then one of the most important things when you sign players at the moment is their character.”
Liam Shaw has a tough task at Celtic
Shaw has primarily played as a central midfielder with Wednesday. As you know, that’s an area of the pitch that Celtic don’t lack for talent in.
Callum McGregor, Ismaila Soro, David Turnbull and Scott Brown all compete for the position before other young prospects such as Luca Connell are even considered.

Breaking into the first-team will be difficult for him. Still, it sounds as though he has the right attitude and determination, at least.
Shaw also has versatility in his game though and has featured at centre-half for the Championship side before.
Perhaps that trait will lead to more frequent opportunities in the Bhoys starting eleven.
In other news, an MLS star sounds desperate for a move to Celtic.
